The Hong Kong Information Technology Workers’ Union form out of the 2019 Hong Kong movement, and is developing a database of employers who do not threaten or dismiss employees for political protests. Reuters reports that unionizing in Hong Kong has grown since anti-extradition protests began last year. Organizers see unions as a means of protecting politically engaged workers from retaliation.
